Ophelia Foundation Offers Scholarships To College-Bound High School Seniors
Haymarket, VA, February 26, 2018 — The OPHELIA Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those with few or no opportunities, announced today that it is accepting applications for the Class of 2018 Scholarships. The Foundation will award one $1,000 scholarship to a deserving college-bound high school senior in need of funds to help defray the costs of pursuing a higher education. OPHELIA Chairman and Founder Jameece Pinckney and Vice Chairman Gilbert Pinckney will also award a $1,000 scholarship they have personally donated.
The Foundation’s mission is to create Opportunities to Provide Hope, Empower Lives, and Influence Advancement. The organization focuses on supporting children in the early school years and, with these awards, also encompasses students in the later, but equally important, phase of their education.
To qualify for a scholarship, a student must be a graduating senior from a District of Columbia, Maryland, or Northern Virginia high school. The student must also meet academic, citizenship, and other criteria specified by the donors
Chairman and Founder Pinckney noted, “We are extremely pleased to continue our scholarship award program for a second year. Our focus remains on helping young people get a strong start in their college careers. We know the cost of a college education is out of reach for many aspiring attendees, and we therefore want to help potential rising college freshmen, enabling them to take on this academic challenge.”
The Class of 2018 Scholarships applications are due on April 27, 2018. For detailed information about the scholarships and a link to the applications, please visit www.opheliafoundation.org.
