    Ophelia Foundation Offers Scholarships To College-Bound High School Seniors

    Three $1,000 Scholarships to be Awarded

    Haymarket, VA, February 20, 2019 — The OPHELIA Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those with few or no opportunities, announced today that it is accepting applications for the Class of 2019 Scholarships. The Foundation will award two $1,000 scholarships to a deserving college-bound high school senior in need of funds to help defray the costs of pursuing a higher education. OPHELIA Founder Jameece Pinckney and Chairman Gilbert Pinckney will also award a $1,000 scholarship they have personally donated.

    The Foundation’s mission is to create Opportunities to Provide Hope, Empower Lives, and Influence Advancement. The organization focuses on supporting children in the early school years and, with these awards, also encompasses students in the later, but equally important, phase of their education.

    To qualify for a scholarship, a student must be a graduating senior from a District of Columbia, Maryland, or Northern Virginia high school. The student must also meet academic, citizenship, and other criteria specified by the donors.

    Founder Pinckney noted, “We are pleased and excited to continue our scholarship award program for a third year. Our continued focus is on helping young people get a strong start in their college careers. We know the cost of a college education is out of reach for many potential attendees; our goal is to help enable rising college freshmen to achieve their academic aspirations.”
